Classic: Gerd – Vorpal Blade
Jun30
Gerd released this track in a time when the borders of house and techno music were explored widely. Therefor this Vorpal Blade is just as experimental as it is catchy.
Classic: Trancesetters – Neurodisco
Jun26
One of the first tracks by Dobre & Jamez, founders of the Touché label. Neurodisco is on the B-side of Secrets Of Meditation, releases on Jaydee’s label First Impression sixteen years ago in 1994. Despite the long intro it’s a track that is deep, uptempo and groovy at the same time.
Classic: Nicole – Running Away
May16
While digging into discogs.com for some background work for Fresh FM’s House Top 1000 next weekend, I stumbled upon a track by the Praise Cats (Shine On Me). I never were really into that track, so I was kinda surprised to find out that one of the most productive house producers ever was behind it: Eric Miller aka E Smoove. I checked other works by him and clicked Nicole – Running Away, not knowing the track at all, well… that’s what I thought. I hit the play button and was really surprised to hear one of my most searched after garage anthems, a blue print of the US house sound in the mid nineties. It’s on an old mixtape I have and didn’t know the title for all those years. Now I know and I’m glad that it still sounds fresh.
Laurent Garnier – The Man With The Red Face (Jan Driver Mix)
Dec8
In 2000 kwam één van Laurent Garnier’s beste tracks uit: The Man With The Red Face. Vele remixen volgden, maar de meeste haalden het niveau van het origineel niet. Een wat minder bekende remix, die van de duitser Jan Driver, haalde dat echter met gemak.
